    Tucson Electric Power has become the latest utility to lower its rebates for residents who install solar panels, as a response to “unprecedented” demand.
    Lower costs of solar technology have prompted 1,100 people in southern Arizona to reserve TEP SunShare rebates this year ? more than the previous nine years combined.
    TEP, which is part of UniSource Energy Corporation, is now asking the Arizona Corporation Commission for permission to cut its SunShare rebates from $3 to $2.25 per watt for grid-tied photovoltaic projects.
    If the regulators agree, the move would affect applications received after July 7, 2010.
